Sharing the Gospel...in class!

See, I'm already following through with my more frequent blogging goal! I was really excited about this though because today, my friend Kiera and I had a very rare chance to stand up in front of our class and talk about Jesus!! Big deal. Especially at a public, liberal arts college like UGA. Granted, Child and Family Development has the highest number of Christians in the major over any other major at Georgia (so blessed!). My Career Development class has been both a blessing and a curse this semester. I feel like like it's a whole lot of work, but it's work like turning in my resume and interviewing professionals in my field of work that I want to go into. With how broad of a major Child and Family is, there is a very broad selection of jobs to pick from. We had to break into groups with others that were interested in going into the same area of work that we were hoping to after graduation (ie-There were groups of people that wanted to work with adoption agencies, others that want to teach elementary school, some that wanted to go into counseling, while others that want to go to nursing school.)

Only myself and another girl, Kiera are going into full time ministry (she wants to do overseas missions and then eventually go into Christian counseling). We planned a lot for this presentation because we wanted to very clearly and passionately explain our hearts for Christ and why we feel called to go into full time ministry, but without sounding too "preachy" to turn people off from listening. It was definitely a hard balance to find, but praise the Lord it all worked out! We talked about ministry inside and outside of the church, as well as living a life with a missionary's heart. And we even put Scripture in our Powerpoint and our handout...I can't explain how HUGE of a deal that is for somewhere like the University of Georgia to put Scripture in student's hands and explain our love for the Gospel and our hearts for seeing others come to know HIM. Just wanted to share that with everyone because I thought it was a big stinkin' deal. And glorious and wonderful big deal. :)

Definition of Christian Ministry: "Ministry" is from the Greek word diakoneo, meaning "to serve". In the New Testament of the Bible, ministry is seen as service to God and to other people in His name. Ministry should certainly place emphasis on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others so they can come to know Him and receive Him as personal Savior, go on to experience Him as Lord of their own life, and go even further to know Christ as the essence of their Life. Ministry can, and should, include ministering to the physical, emotional, mental, vocational, and financial needs of others.

And on the bottom we had:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...”-Matthew 28:19
